Tip Top Engineering Work

We are located in Ganesh Nagar 6. It is a small space filled with machines and tools. There is always a layer of oil on the floor no matter how much we sweep. Mostly we are just fixing parts or turning metal on the lathe. It takes a lot of patience to get things right. My clothes always have some kind of stain on them. The neighbors know us by the sound of the machines running. We have been in this spot for a while now. Some days it is very busy with jobs piled up and other days we just sit and wait for someone to drop something off. We don't have a computer for the work, just our hands and the old equipment. It gets hot in the afternoon because the ventilation isn't great. We keep the door open to catch whatever breeze comes down the street. People bring in broken hinges or car parts that need a bit of welding. We just look at it and see what can be done. It is practical work. There is no point in making it sound like more than it is. We just do the engineering work that needs doing in this part of Ganesh Nagar. It’s a quiet street usually, except for us. We finish when the light goes or the job is done. There is always grease under my fingernails and the sound of metal clanking.
