Suranga Engineering

Down at Kharadi 27, you’ll find the workshop for Suranga Engineering. It’s an engineering shop, so don't expect it to be clean or quiet. There is usually the sound of some machine running or someone grinding metal in the back. We have been in Kharadi for a good stretch of time now. The space is filled with tools, scrap metal, and various projects that are halfway done. My clothes usually have a bit of oil on them by midday, and that is just how it is when you’re working with machines. We don't have a big marketing team or a fancy office; we just have a workbench and the right tools to get the job done. Customers come by with parts that need fixing or something they want made, and we just figure out the best way to do it. The floor is concrete and has some stains from years of work. Sometimes it gets a bit hot in the workshop during the summer, but we just keep the fans going and stay busy. It’s a simple operation where we just care about getting the work done instead of talking about it. Most people find us because they live or work nearby in Kharadi and know that we are here at number 27. It’s just a place where things get built and repaired, nothing more and nothing less than that. We finish the day when the last job is wrapped up and the machines are off.
