Everest Engineers

J Block is where you will find us. We are at Plot No. El-56, right across from the Plasma building in Bhosari. If you know Pune, you know Bhosari is just rows and rows of engineering shops. We fit right in. Our shop floor is usually a mess of metal shavings and blue ink from the drawings. Everest Engineers started out small and we haven’t changed a whole lot since then. We have a few machines that have been with us since the beginning. They’re old but they still run if you know how to talk to them. The tea guy comes by at eleven and four, and that is usually the highlight of the day. We don’t have a receptionist. If the phone rings, whoever is closest picks it up. Usually, my hands are dirty so I have to wipe them on a rag before I can even answer. We do a lot of custom parts. People bring in a drawing on a scrap of paper and we try to figure out how to make it work. Sometimes it takes longer than we thought it would. That’s just engineering for you. It’s not always perfect. We make mistakes, we fix them, and we move on to the next job. Being across from Plasma makes it easy to give directions. Just look for the big sign and the stack of crates outside our door. It’s a noisy life, but it’s our life.
