Sunrise Cold Storage & Frozen Foods

Our place, Sunrise Cold Storage & Frozen Foods, is at 33/A on the Kondwa Budruk Pisoli Road. It’s a cold storage facility, so the main thing you notice when you walk in is the drop in temperature. We wear jackets even when it’s boiling outside. We store all kinds of frozen foods for different people. It’s a lot of moving heavy boxes in and out of the freezers. We have to be careful with the doors because if they stay open too long, the temperature goes up and that’s a problem. Most of the day is spent checking the gauges and making sure the compressors are humming along like they should. If one of them stops, we have to move fast. The road outside is usually pretty busy with delivery vans. We have a small loading dock where we spend most of our time. It’s a bit of a workout, lifting and stacking things all day. We keep a log of everything that comes in so we don't lose track. It is a pretty straightforward operation. We don’t have fancy signs or anything. Just the cold rooms and the office where we keep the records. Sometimes the ice builds up on the floor and we have to chip it away so nobody slips. It’s just us keeping things frozen until they are needed somewhere else in the city. We keep the lights low to save on the bill.
