D Mart over here on Mangalwar Peth is always a hive of activity. If you come by Parge Chowk in Pune, you will see exactly what I mean. We are at number 156, and it feels like the whole neighborhood stops by at some point during the week. It gets really packed on the weekends, which means we are all on our feet for hours. We spend a lot of our time just putting things back on the shelves because they fly off so fast. It’s a lot of lifting boxes and checking prices. We don't have much time for sitting down once the doors open. Some of us have been working here for years, so we know where every single item is located, even the small stuff. The customers are mostly locals who live nearby and just want to get their shopping done without too much fuss. We try to keep the lines moving, but sometimes the billing takes a bit longer when the system is slow. It’s just a normal grocery store life. Nothing fancy about it. We see families, students, and old folks coming in every day. The air conditioning is nice when it’s hot outside, but we are usually too busy to notice it much. It’s a steady kind of work that keeps us all busy from morning until late at night.
