New Shweta Super Market

Working at Aundh Super Textile Market 3 means things get busy during the festival seasons. Our place, New Shweta Super Market, is packed with everything from pulses to soap. We don’t have much extra space, so every inch of the wall has something hanging or stacked on it. In the mornings, the delivery guys drop off the milk and bread crates right out front. We have to move quickly to get everything inside before the sun gets too high. It’s a lot of lifting and reaching for the top shelves. Sometimes the bags of rice get a little heavy, but you get used to it after a few months. The floor is tiled but it gets dirty fast with people coming in from the market outside. We spend a good chunk of the afternoon just dusting the biscuit packets and making sure the prices are visible. It’s a neighborhood spot, so we see the same faces every day, mostly people living nearby who forgot one or two things for dinner. We don’t have a fancy computer system for everything, so we do a lot of counting by hand. It’s a bit noisy because of the textile market nearby, but that’s just part of being in this area. We try to keep the fans running but it still gets warm when the shop is full. It’s a busy life. Most days we are just trying to keep the shelves stocked properly.
