Subhash R. Chimbalkar Architects

Subhash R. Chimbalkar Architects operates out of No. 31 in Mukund Nagar, in a building called Pushkaraj. Mukund Nagar is a nice area, and having the office here feels right. It’s not a corporate skyscraper or anything like that, just a solid building where we can focus on our architectural work. The space inside Pushkaraj is filled with rolls of paper, pens, and a few computers that have seen better days. Subhash is usually around, working through designs or talking to someone about a site visit. It’s a small team, so everyone ends up doing a bit of everything, from answering the phone to measuring up spaces. We aren’t really into big marketing or flashy signs. Most of our work comes from people who know us or have seen our name on a plaque somewhere. The neighborhood is fairly quiet, which is a relief when you are trying to scale a drawing or figure out a tricky layout. We’ve got the usual office clutter, and there’s always a half-empty cup of tea sitting somewhere. It’s the kind of place where things get done without a lot of fuss. Being at No. 31 has its own rhythm, and we’ve settled into it well over the years. It’s a practical, working architect’s office where the focus is on the actual plans rather than the polish of the lobby.
