St. Vincent'S High School

Our school sits right on St. VincentS Street in the Camp area, and we have been here for quite a long time. The building itself has that old look that you see a lot around this part of town. If you walk down the street near the 2005 and 2006 plots, you can’t miss the gates. It’s usually pretty crowded around here, especially in the afternoons when the final bell rings and everyone heads out. We have a lot of history in these halls. The classrooms are high-ceilinged and keep fairly cool even when it’s hot outside. We deal with the usual stuff schools deal with—fixing leaky taps, painting the benches, and making sure the playground isn’t too dusty. Students come from all over, but many are locals from the Camp neighborhood. It is a busy place. Sometimes the noise from the street drifts in, but the kids are used to it by now. We focus on the regular subjects and sports. There is a lot of pride in the school name, but we aren't about being flashy. We just show up, do our jobs, and help the boys get through their classes. The staff room is always full of tea cups and stacks of notebooks. It is a grounded place where things move at a steady pace. We just keep the wheels turning year after year on this same street. We're part of the furniture here after all these years of teaching.
