About St Helenas School And Junior College – Education in Pune
Susie Sorabji Road is a familiar spot for anyone who has lived in this part of the city for a while. Our school sits at number 8, and it has a very distinct look. It feels like an old-fashioned place because, well, it is. Since we have the junior college here too, you see a mix of little kids and older students all sharing the same space. The gates are heavy and the walls are high. Inside, there’s a sense of history that you can almost smell in the old wooden floors. Traditions are important here, though we don’t talk about them in a fancy way. It’s just how we do things. Long corridors echo when the students move between classes. When the bell rings, there is usually a bit of a mad rush. A small garden area is something we try to keep green, even if the summer heat makes it tough. Girls wear their uniforms and walk down the road in groups after the final bell. In the staff room, teachers are always grading papers and talking about the day’s events. The atmosphere stays busy but mostly orderly. Modern glass and steel are nowhere to be found; it’s mostly stone and old plaster. Time hasn't changed the place much, and we just keep the doors open and the lessons going. It works for us and the families who come here.
