Shri Optical

The shop is right here on Mahatma Gandhi Road in Chinchwadgaon. Most people just call it MG Road though. We are tucked inside the Aashirwad Complex which has been here for years now. Usually, I get in around ten in the morning and start by wiping down the glass counters. Dust just seems to find its way in no matter how much I clean the door frame. We have a lot of different frames sitting on the shelves. Some are metal and some are plastic. People come in mostly when they realize they can't see the signs on the buses anymore. It is a small space so if more than three people walk in at once it feels a bit crowded. My chair is in the back near the testing chart. The light back there is a bit dim but it works for what we need. Sometimes the fan makes a clicking sound when it’s on the highest setting. Outside the complex it is always loud with scooters and people shouting. I’ve lived around here my whole life so the noise doesn't bother me much. We see a lot of the same faces every month. Some stop in just to get their nose pads replaced or to tighten a screw that fell out. I usually have a cup of tea around four o’clock from the stall down the street. It’s just how the day goes here.
