The noise of the machines is the first thing you notice when you walk into our place on 1st Main Road in Chinchwad. We have been working out of this spot at number 785 for quite some time now. It is an industrial area, so there is always the sound of metal being pressed or trucks moving around outside. Our work involves a lot of technical stuff with components, where we have to be careful about the measurements we use. It is not the kind of job where you can let your mind wander, because the machines require all your attention. The floor is usually covered in small scraps of metal and a bit of oil, no matter how often we try to sweep it up. We wear heavy work clothes because it gets pretty dirty and dusty in here. It’s a small operation, and we don't really have a front office or anything like that; we are mostly just back there working. Most of our days are spent standing on the concrete floor, moving from one station to another. We have a small table in the corner where we take our breaks and have some tea when we get a chance. It is hard labor, and it can be quite draining when the weather gets hot, but it’s the work we know how to do. We just keep our heads down and focus on finishing the orders that come in every single day without much fuss.
