Shree Gajanan Engineering Works

Down in the Bhosari Industrial Estate, things are always noisy and a bit chaotic, and that is exactly where Shree Gajanan Engineering Works is located. If you walk into our shop, the first thing you will notice is the smell of old machine oil and the sound of metal hitting metal. We have been in this spot for a long time. The floor is made of rough concrete and it is usually covered in a fine layer of iron shavings by the time we finish in the evening. We do not have a front desk or a receptionist to greet you. Usually, you have to shout over the sound of the lathes to get someone’s attention. We keep a big plastic water cooler near the door because it gets incredibly hot under the corrugated metal roof during the summer months. Most of our tools have been with us for years and they show the wear and tear of constant use. We do not use many computers here, mostly just hand tools and old-school machinery. It is hard work and our hands are almost always stained black with grease. The neighbors in the other units of the estate are good people and we often trade favors or lend out a spare wrench when someone is in a bind. We are just a small crew of workers who know how to handle metal. It is not a clean job, but it is what we do here in Bhosari every day.
