Senior architect

I’ve been working out of this apartment in Kothrud for a good while now. It’s a quiet spot in Garden View, right off Paud Road. Most days it’s just me and a couple of assistants surrounded by rolled-up papers and half-empty tea cups. We spend a lot of time looking at site plans and arguing over where a window should go or why a wall can't be moved. It’s not a fancy studio with glass walls or anything. Just a regular place where we get the work done. Indira Shankar Nagari is a decent area to be based in. Sometimes the traffic outside gets a bit loud, but once you’re inside C-37, it’s all about the drawings. People drop by to talk about their house renovations or a small commercial project they’re starting. We don’t have a big reception desk or someone to greet you. You just walk in and we start talking about what you need. It’s busy, and sometimes the desk is a mess, but that’s how it goes when you’re actually doing the work. Usually, I’m out at a site in the afternoons, so the mornings are for the heavy drafting. It’s a simple setup. We deal with the local building rules and try to make sense of the space people have. It isn't glamorous. It's just drawing, measuring, and figuring things out day after day.
