Sanskriti School

Sanskriti School is out at Bhukum, Gat No 1164, which is on the edges of Pune. It’s quite a way out from the main traffic of the city, so it’s a bit greener around here. The road up to the school can be a bit bumpy sometimes, especially after the monsoons. We have a fairly large area for the kids, and they spend a lot of time outdoors when the weather allows it. The buildings are laid out in a way that lets the air circulate, though it still gets stuffy in the middle of the day. You’ll see the yellow buses lined up in the parking lot every morning and afternoon. Inside, the floors are usually covered in a bit of mud if it’s been raining. We have a lot of windows in the classrooms, giving a view of the hills around Bhukum. The staff room is usually a mess of papers and half-empty tea cups. We don’t have a lot of high-tech gadgets in every corner; we mostly rely on books and talking to each other. During the breaks, the noise level goes up significantly as everyone heads to the canteen or the grounds. It’s a normal, everyday school environment. We deal with broken pencils, forgotten lunch boxes, and the occasional scraped knee. It feels like a little village of its own out here, away from the city noise, just doing the work of teaching every day. The sun sets behind the hills, and we get ready to start over again.
