Sachin Forge

Saneswadi is where we are located. Sachin Forge sits right near Topaz Tiles, so that is a good landmark if you are driving out this way. We are at Gate No. 943. It's a bit of a trek depending on where you're coming from, but it’s a solid spot for what we do. The forge is a place where things are always moving. You can hear the hammers and the heat from the furnaces is something you never really get used to, but you learn to work with it. We have a lot of stuff piled up in the yard, mostly raw materials and finished pieces waiting to be picked up. The gate is usually open early in the morning and we don't finish up until late. It's physical work, and our hands are usually dirty by the end of the day. There’s no point in wearing nice clothes here because they’ll just get ruined. We talk to each other over the noise of the shop, usually just shouting what needs to be moved or where the next batch is going. Saneswadi is a growing area but it still feels like the outskirts in some ways. We’ve got our routine down and we don't mess with it much. If a job comes in, we put it on the schedule and get to it when the heat is right. It’s a straightforward life at the forge, just metal and hard work.
