S R Egineering Works

Over here on Talawade Road, right by the Dasarahalli Main Road, the noise never really stops. S R Egineering Works is at number 1182, and if you walk past, you’ll probably hear the welding or the sound of metal being cut. It’s a workshop, so don't expect it to be tidy. There are scraps of iron in the corner and oil on the floor. We’ve been working here for years now, mostly handling whatever the local factories or builders need. It might be a gate that needs fixing or some specific machine part that snapped. We don't have a big front office with a receptionist. Usually, you just walk in and find someone with a mask on. My hands are usually stained with grease, so I don't shake hands much. We just get on with the job. The heat from the machines makes the shop quite warm in the afternoons, but we have a couple of big fans that move the air around. Some days are slow and we just clean the tools, but other days we are staying late to finish a batch of brackets. It’s honest work. We don't talk much while we're working because you have to pay attention to what you're doing with the lathe. We’ve lived in this area a long time, so we know the shortcuts to get materials when the traffic is bad on the main road. The roof leaks a tiny bit when it rains hard, but we just move the machines.
