If you head down to Warje Malwadi on Avenue Road 5, you will find our little cafe. We called it Redmelon Cafe, but we serve all kinds of things, not just watermelon stuff. It is a modest place with some basic chairs and a counter where we take orders. The street outside can get pretty dusty, so we are always wiping down the tables. We have a small kitchen in the back that gets very hot in the summer months. There isn't any fancy interior design here; we just put up some posters and kept the walls a neutral color. We get a mix of students and families from the Malwadi area. Sometimes we play the radio, but the signal isn't great, so it’s mostly static. We don't have a big corporate story to tell. We just opened the place because we wanted to work for ourselves. The menu is printed on some paper we had, and we change it when we run out of ingredients. It is a bit disorganized at times, especially when a large group comes in at once. We don't promise the fastest service or anything like that; we just do the best we can with what we have. It’s a local spot where you can just sit and be left alone if you want. We try to keep the water bottles filled and the trash taken out regularly. Nothing too complicated about it.
