Rajendra Travels

Our office is right at the Mitramandal Chowk, which is a pretty busy intersection in Parvati. If you’ve ever been to the Dealing Center, you know it’s a lot of people coming and going. We sit behind the desks here at Rajendra Travels, mostly handling phone calls and printing out tickets. The walls are covered with some old maps and a few calendars that are probably out of date. It gets loud outside with the buses and rickshaws honking constantly. We have a small water cooler in the corner that everyone uses. People stop by to ask about bus timings or just to see if a particular route is open. It’s a lot of repetitive work, typing names into the computer and making sure the dates are right. Mistakes are easy to make when three people are talking to you at once, so we try to stay focused. The Dealing Center has a specific smell of old paper and dust. Sometimes we grab a snack from the vendors outside when there’s a gap in customers. We aren't doing anything fancy here, just helping folks get from one place to another. The evening is usually our busiest time because that’s when most people finish work and think about their trips. We stay until the last booking is done and then head home through the same traffic we’ve been watching all day.
