Hadapsar is a huge area, and we are located in the Mandvi part at 110/155. It is a very busy spot with a lot of trucks and buses moving through all the time. The dust from the road is a constant battle, so we spend a lot of time dusting off the desks and the computer monitors. Our office is basically a long, narrow room with a counter at the front. There are usually a few people waiting on the bench outside if it gets crowded. We keep a big jug of water for anyone who comes in feeling thirsty from the heat. The walls have a few scuffs where chairs have bumped against them over the years. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of wall fans that move the warm air around. It gets pretty hot in the summer months. Most of our work involves booking long-distance buses for workers going back to their villages or families going on a trip. We know the routes well and which drivers are the most punctual. There is a small shrine on the shelf with some incense sticks that we light every morning before we start the computers. It smells nice and helps start the day on a calm note. The phone rings a lot with people asking about seat availability. We just take it one call at a time and try to keep everything moving. It is plain work, but we like the people who stop by.
