You’ll find us at shop number 5 in the Legend Classic Housing Society in Kothrud. We’re very close to Sutar Hospital, which is how most people find their way to us. The shop is filled with rows of frames on the walls, from the basic plastic ones to the more sturdy metal types. Most days involve sitting at the testing machine or using the lens grinder in the back room. It’s quiet work, requiring a bit of focus to get the power just right. People come in because they broke their glasses or they can't see the newspaper like they used to. We have a small table where people can try on different styles and look in the mirror. Sometimes a kid comes in and is nervous about wearing glasses for the first time, so we have to spend a bit of extra time with them. The shop isn't very large, but we’ve made the most of the space over the years. My wife helps out with the sales while I handle the technical stuff. We’ve been part of this housing society for quite a while now and know many of the neighbors by name. It’s a nice way to spend the day, helping folks see a bit clearer. We don't have any flashy advertisements, just the sign out front and people telling their friends about us when they need new spectacles.
