Prakash Stores

Prakash Stores is located at Shop No 38 in Barve Nagar, Khadki. It is a small shop in a row of many others. We have been at number 38 for as long as I can remember. It is a local spot where people from the Khadki area stop by while they are out doing their errands. The shop is not very big, so we have to use every inch of the walls for shelving. Prakash Stores is painted on a wooden board above the entrance. It is faded a bit from the sun over the years, but you can still read it clearly enough. We do not have any fancy displays or bright neon lights. It is just the goods on the shelves and us behind the counter. The floor is made of old tiles that have a few cracks here and there. We keep a small stool behind the counter for when things are quiet, but usually, we are up and moving things around. Barve Nagar is a close-knit place, and we know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names. We talk about the weather or the local news while we work. It is not a corporate business with a lot of rules and manuals. We just do things the way they have always been done. The shop stays open until late in the evening because that is when people are coming home. It is a simple life, running a store in Khadki.
