Poona Engineering Works

Our workshop is at J-479, near the Shanti Neketan Housing Society in Bhosari. It’s an interesting spot because we are right next to where people live, so we try not to make too much noise too late in the evening. Poona Engineering Works is a small place. We have a couple of lathes and some welding equipment squeezed into the space. It’s usually just the two of us working, plus a helper who comes in three days a week. We do a lot of repair work for people in the area, fixing broken gates or making small parts for machines. The walls are covered in calendars from years ago and old blueprints we never threw away. We don't have a fancy computer system; everything is written down in a big ledger on the desk. Sometimes the shop gets a bit cramped when there’s a lot of scrap metal piled up in the corner. We like the work though. It’s satisfying to take a piece of raw iron and turn it into something useful. We’ve been in this part of Bhosari for a long time. People know they can just stop by if they have a problem with a metal part. We don't do any advertising. Most people find us by word of mouth or just by seeing the sign outside. It’s a simple life and a simple business. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a big office, we just work with our hands.
