Paras Engineering Works

Paras Engineering Works is tucked away in Shaniwar Peth, specifically at Ratilal Park on Darpan Pay Road. If you know this part of the city, you know the streets are very narrow and it can be hard to find a spot to even stand sometimes. We’ve been in this little workshop for years. We do a lot of precision work on metal pieces and repair some older machinery parts. The sound of the grinding wheel is basically the soundtrack to our lives. It’s just a few of us here, and we’ve worked together for so long that we don't even have to talk much to know what needs doing. The building is old, and the walls have some cracks, but it’s sturdy enough for the heavy machines we use. During the monsoon, the water sometimes seeps in under the door, so we have to keep all the metal off the floor on wooden pallets. We don't have a fancy showroom or a big office. Most people just walk right into the shop area to talk to us about what they need fixed. We drink a lot of tea to stay awake during the long afternoons. It’s a traditional kind of business where we rely on our tools and our hands. We aren't interested in being the biggest, just in getting the work finished so we can head home to our families.
