Optic India

Optic India is located at 1479 Kasba Peth, which is right near the Daruwala Pul. This is one of the oldest parts of Pune, so the streets are very tight and always crowded with scooters and cycles. Our shop is a small place filled with frames and lenses. We have drawers and cabinets everywhere because space is tight. Most of the day is spent helping people pick out glasses or checking their prescriptions. We have an old machine for testing eyes that still works perfectly fine. The front window gets a lot of dust from the road, so we have to wipe the glass displays multiple times a day. It’s a bit noisy with the traffic from Daruwala Pul constantly buzzing by. We’ve had customers who have been buying their glasses from us for generations. They come in, sit on the stool, and we have a bit of a chat before getting down to business. We don't have any fancy displays or bright neon signs. It’s just a plain shop where you can get your eyes looked at and find a pair of spectacles that fit. Sometimes we struggle with the inventory when new styles come out, but we try to keep a decent variety. Working in Kasba Peth has its challenges, like the lack of parking, but we wouldn't want to be anywhere else. It’s a busy, honest life at number 1479.
