Om Sai Ambulance Services is based over in Thergaon near Dange Chowk. If you live around here, you know how busy Dange Chowk gets at almost any hour. We have our vehicles parked around that area so we can get out quickly. Running an ambulance service in this part of town means dealing with a lot of traffic. We have a small group of drivers who have been doing this for years. They know the back lanes of Thergaon like the back of their hands. We don't have a fancy office building. Most of the time, we are just sitting in the driver’s seat waiting for a call to come through on the mobile. It can be a long wait sometimes, and other times three calls come in at once. We just handle them one by one. The vans are kept as clean as we can manage given how much we use them. We don't talk much about service or missions. We just see it as a job that needs doing. People in the local housing societies know us. We are just regular people trying to make a living while helping out when things get bad. The heat in the summer makes sitting in the van tough, but we stay out there anyway. It is just the way things are at Dange Chowk. We try to be fast, but we have to be safe too.
