National Chikki Mart Pvt Ltd is right here in Lonavala 41432. If you’ve ever been through this town, you know there are plenty of shops like ours, but we’ve been at this spot for a long time. The building is a bit old-fashioned, but it’s sturdy and it’s where all the work happens. We spend our days boiling sugar and mixing in the nuts. It’s hot work, especially in the summer, but the smell is great. We have a few big tables where we spread everything out to cool down before we cut it into squares. It’s a process we’ve done thousands of times, so we don’t even have to think about it much anymore. Our staff has been with us for years. We aren't some big corporate entity with a board of directors. It’s mostly family and a few neighbors who help out. We sell to the tourists who come up for the weekend and to the locals who have been buying from us since they were kids. We don't use fancy packaging with gold foil or anything. We just wrap it up and put it on the shelf. The floor is usually a bit sticky by the end of the day, but that’s just the nature of the business. We open early and close when the last customer leaves.
