Smita Engineering Works

Smita Engineering Works has been sitting on Survey No. 29 for quite some time now. We are right on Abhinav College Road in Narhe Gaon. It is a lively area because of the students walking by, though they do not usually look into our shop. The workshop is full of metal shavings and the smell of welding. We spend most of our time at the lathes. It’s loud, so we have to shout to hear each other over the humming. My brother and I started this because we liked working with our hands. We do not have a fancy office or air conditioning. Usually, the door is wide open to let the breeze in, along with the dust from the road. Some days are slow and we just clean the tools. Other days, we are staying late to finish a batch for a customer who is in a hurry. The traffic on the road gets bad around five, so we usually wait a bit before heading home. There is a small temple near the corner where we stop sometimes. We are not trying to change the world here. We just want to make sure the parts we turn out are what the person asked for. It’s a simple setup, but it works for us and the few guys who help out. It is a good way to spend a day if you like making things.
