Sai Engineering Works

The workshop here at Sai Engineering Works is located over in Nanded Village, just a little bit past the Sankalp Bunglow. If you are coming down S. No. 12/6, you really cannot miss the sound of the machines running. We have been in this part of Pune for a long time now. The shop floor is usually a bit messy with metal scraps and oil, but that is just how a real engineering place looks when people are actually working. Most days start early before the sun gets too hot, especially during the summer months when the shed traps all that heat. The staff mostly consists of local guys who know their way around a lathe and a welding torch. We spend a lot of time fixing bits and pieces for the neighbors or handling small batches of parts that larger factories do not want to bother with. There is a small tea stall just down the road where we usually take our breaks and talk about the traffic or the weather. It is not a fancy setup with air conditioning or glass offices, just a solid roof and the right tools to get the job done. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we just sit outside and wait for it to come back. We do things the old way here, making sure the measurements are right and the metal is strong enough for whatever it is being used for.
