Mercy Matriculation School

Out on Charoli Road in Alandi Devachi, you will find Mercy Matriculation School. It is a bit away from the main city rush of Pune, which is actually quite nice for us. Alandi is a place people visit for the temples, but for us, it’s just where we work every day. The school building sits along the road and we see all sorts of people passing by. We follow the matriculation system, so there is always a lot of focus on the textbooks and the state board requirements. Our days are filled with the sound of children reciting lessons or playing out front during their break. We have a few trees that give some shade, but mostly it’s just the school structure. The teachers often stay back to grade papers or help a student who is struggling with a particular subject. We don’t have any big marketing slogans or anything like that. We just open the gates in the morning and close them in the evening. Most of the families around here are working-class people who want their kids to finish their schooling nearby. It can get dusty on Charoli Road during the dry season, so we are constantly cleaning the desks and benches. It’s just a regular part of life at a school in Alandi Devachi. We do our best with what we have and try to keep the parents updated on how things are going. The local buses stop nearby, which helps with the commute.
