Mercy E.M School

Mercy E.M School is situated in Vishrantwadi, right on Lane Number 1 off Alandi Road. If you know the area, you know that Alandi Road is one of the busiest parts of this side of Pune. Our school is at Survey No 161/13. It’s a typical local school where the bells ring loud enough for the whole lane to hear. We have children coming in from all the nearby houses in Vishrantwadi. The classrooms are basic and we try to keep them cool during the summer months, which isn't always easy. We spend a lot of time on paperwork and making sure the students are following the curriculum. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. The mornings are a scramble of parents on scooters dropping off their kids before heading to work. We have a small staff room where we sit and plan the next day’s lessons while drinking some chai. Sometimes the street noise gets inside, but the kids don’t seem to mind it much. We’ve been here for years, watching the shops around us change while the school stays pretty much the same. It’s a steady rhythm of exams, holidays, and daily classes. We just try to keep things organized and make sure the students have their books and pens ready. It’s just a normal school life here in Lane Number 1. We don't have much else to say other than we are here every day except Sundays and some public holidays.
