Meenakkshi School Of Acting

Our acting school is based at Survey No 9/1/1 as part of the Sankalp Education Society. We are right on the main road in Vadgaon Budruk, so it is easy to spot. It is a lively place because acting students always have a lot of energy. You will often see groups of them standing outside the entrance rehearsing their lines or talking about auditions. The building has plenty of stairs and we are always moving from one floor to another for different rehearsals. We don't have a big stage with velvet curtains. It is mostly just open rooms with some mats on the floor and a few lights. There is a lot of noise from the main road, so we have to tell the students to project their voices. It’s not a glamorous setup like you see in movies. Most of the time it is just hard work and repeating the same scenes over and over again. We have a small office where we keep the scripts and the registration forms. The coffee machine is usually running because the days can be quite long. We don't have a lot of staff, so we all end up doing a bit of everything, from sweeping the floors to helping with costumes. People come here with big dreams, and we just give them a place to practice until they get better at their craft.
