Starting early in the morning is just part of the job here at Sadashiv Peth. Most of us at Mayur School Bus Service are used to the quiet streets before the Pune traffic really gets going. We spend a lot of time at Flat No. 20, checking the schedules and making sure the drivers know exactly where they are headed. It is not always easy dealing with the narrow lanes around Viththal Nagari, especially when the rain starts. We have been doing this for a while now, just getting kids to their classes on time and bringing them back home safely. Sometimes the buses need a bit of work, and you can often find someone under a hood with a wrench. It is a lot of coordination, honestly. We have to talk to parents quite a bit, and they usually call when a bus is even two minutes late. That is just how it goes. The office isn't anything fancy, just a place to keep the records and handle the petrol bills. We try to keep things organized, but on Mondays, it usually feels a bit chaotic. Our drivers know the routes by heart, which helps when there is a sudden road closure. We just focus on the daily run, making sure the tyres are good and the seats are clean enough for the next trip. There is always a lot of paperwork to deal with, from insurance to road tax, but we get through it.
