Manjampatti School is located at 80, Event Centre Street in Lavasa. If you’ve ever been up to Lavasa, you know it’s quite a drive from Pune city, up through the hills. The school is situated in a spot that feels a lot quieter than the typical city school. We don’t have the constant roar of traffic here, though the wind can get quite strong coming off the lake. The building is part of the planned layout of the town, so it looks a bit different from the older schools in Pune. We have the usual setup of rooms for the students. It’s a bit of a trek for some of the staff who live further out, but the scenery is hard to beat. The school day follows a pretty steady rhythm. We have our morning sessions and then a break where the kids might get some fresh air. It’s not a huge school, so everyone pretty much knows everyone else. We deal with the usual stuff like keeping the classrooms clean and making sure the supplies are stocked up. Sometimes it feels a bit isolated out here, especially during the monsoon when the clouds sit right on top of the hills. But we just carry on with the lessons. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of place. We don’t have many distractions around, which is probably good for the students. It’s just us and the hills, working through the year.
