Our school is right there on Satara Road in the Dhankawadi area. It’s a place that’s been around for a while, and you can tell by looking at the gates and the benches. We don’t go for anything too fancy or modern. It’s just a solid building where kids from the local neighborhood come to learn their lessons. The traffic on the main road is always buzzing, so there’s a constant hum in the background of every classroom. We have students from all sorts of families around here. Most of them walk to school or come on bicycles. We spend a lot of time talking to parents at the gate about how their kids are doing. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. If a window breaks or a desk gets wobbly, we usually end up fixing it ourselves. There’s no big corporate office to call for repairs. The teachers are dedicated people who have been with us for years. They know the families and the siblings who came before. We don’t have much in the way of high-tech gadgets, just chalkboards and textbooks that have been used many times. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it seems to work for the community. We just keep the doors open and the classrooms ready for whoever shows up in the morning. It’s just a normal, everyday part of life here in Dhankawadi for us.
