Maa Bhagwati Balika Higher Secondry School is sitting over at Survey No 21 and 22 in Lane No 2B. If you are coming from the Prathamesh Park side, you have to look closely for the turn off the main Baner-Balewadi Phata Road. It’s a girls' school, so things are usually a bit organized, though the morning rush is always a bit of a mess with all the rickshaws. We don't have a giant campus with glass walls. It is just a plain building where the girls come to finish their higher secondary years. The classrooms get plenty of light in the afternoons, which is nice, but it can get warm. We have some fans that hum loudly while the teachers are talking. Most of the staff has been here for years, so we all know the routine by heart. We don't spend money on big signs or fancy decorations. The money goes into keeping the roof from leaking and making sure there are enough chairs for everyone. Sometimes the traffic outside on the Phata road gets so loud we have to close the windows for a bit. It’s a local place for local families. We don’t try to be anything we aren't. Parents come by to talk about grades or just to drop off a lunchbox their kid forgot at home. It’s a busy, normal life here in Balewadi-Baner, and we just keep the doors open for the neighborhood.
