Our place is located at Gut. No. 145/1 in Sanaswadi, right out in the Shirur area. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city, but this is where all the heavy engineering work gets done. The shed is big and usually smells like cut metal and welding smoke. We’ve got machines that have been with us for years, and they still run perfectly fine if you know how to handle them. Most of the guys here live nearby, so we all know each other well and it feels like a small community. It’s not a quiet job; there’s always something being hammered or a lathe spinning in the background. We don't really do much in the way of decoration at Laxmi Engineers. The walls have some old calendars and maybe a few diagrams taped up for reference. When customers come to see us, they usually find us in our overalls, probably elbow-deep in a project. Sanaswadi has changed a lot lately with more industrial sheds popping up, but we just stay focused on our corner of the lot. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait it out, just talking shop until it comes back on. It’s a straightforward life. We deal with blueprints and heavy parts mostly. There’s a lot of dust from the surrounding fields, so we’re always wiping down the finished pieces before they go out. We don't have a front office, just the workshop where we do the work we know how to do.
