Kulkarni New Motor School

You can find us at 1133-3 on F C Road in Shivaji Nagar. We are right there in the A Block of Hindmata, near the Dr Ambedkar Road intersection. Being opposite the Bombay Regional Office means there is always a lot of movement outside our door. Running a motor school on F C Road is interesting because the traffic is always a bit of a mess. We spend our days teaching people how to handle a car without getting too nervous. It takes a lot of time and a lot of patience. Most of our students are locals from Shivaji Nagar or students from the nearby colleges. The office itself is quite old-fashioned. We have some diagrams on the wall showing road signs and engine parts. We use a simple notebook to schedule the driving slots. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, especially when it rains hard and the roads get flooded. We have a few different cars that we use for the lessons, and keeping them in good shape is a big part of our daily work. We check the oil and tires every morning before the first student arrives. It’s a family-run sort of thing, so we don't have a big staff. Just a few of us who know how to teach. We’ve seen many people go from being terrified of the wheel to driving quite comfortably.
