Kanan Bags

Kanan Bags is located at 978 Shukrawar Peth, right by the Police Chowki in Fatehnagar, Budhwar Peth. Having the police post so close means the area stays pretty orderly, even though it’s a very crowded part of the city. Our shop is quite narrow, so we have to use every inch of the walls to display our bags. We have everything from school satchels to travel gear. The building we are in is quite old and the ceiling is a bit low, which makes the shop feel even smaller when there are more than two people inside. We don't have a big staff, so whoever is behind the counter is also the one who does the cleaning and the stocking. Most of our day is spent helping people find a bag that fits their budget and their needs. We don't use any fancy sales tactics. We just let people look at the materials and check the pockets themselves. The street noise is constant, and the smell of the nearby food stalls often drifts in. We’ve got a small fan tucked in the corner to keep the air moving, but it’s still quite a warm place to work. We write our receipts by hand in a paper book and keep our cash in a metal box. It’s a very old-fashioned way of doing things, but it’s how we’ve always operated in Budhwar Peth. We’re just local people selling bags to anyone who stops by the Fatehnagar area.
