You’ll find us at Shop No 6 in the Kore Icon building in Vishrambaug. We’re right near the Pari Prakash Hotel, which is how most people find us. The counter is always a bit sticky no matter how many times we wipe it down with a damp cloth. We spend most of our shift cutting up watermelons and pineapples. There’s a big pile of fruit crates in the back that we have to move around every morning to get to the sink. The floor gets wet pretty often, so we have to be careful not to slip. We have a few stools for people to sit on while they wait, but they’re usually taken. It gets pretty loud with the juicers running and the people from the hotel walking past and talking. The clock on the wall is five minutes fast, but we leave it like that so we feel like we’re ahead of schedule. Sometimes the lemons are too sour or the mangoes aren't ripe enough, and we have to tell people we’re out of certain things. That’s just the way it goes with fresh fruit. The sink drains a bit slow, so we have to watch it when we’re washing the glasses. It’s a small shop, and it gets quite hot behind the counter when the afternoon sun comes in. We’re just here every day, doing the same routine and watching the traffic go by in Vishrambaug. Sometimes we run out of ice before the day is over.
