Jayant Phadtare

You can find us at 579/38 Lokmanya Nagar in Pune. The office is right on L B Shastri Road, which is always jammed with traffic. You can hear the constant horns honking all day long from our front window. The building is quite old, but it feels solid and has a lot of character. Jayant Phadtare is the name we go by here. The office is basically one big room that we partitioned off with some wooden boards to make a separate space. It’s a bit dark inside even during the middle of the day, so we have to keep the tube lights on all the time. We have an old sofa for guests to sit on, but the spring is a bit broken on the left side. Most of our work involves a lot of reading and writing. We keep our files in big stacks because the shelves are already completely full. It's not the most modern place you will find in Pune, but it feels like home to us. We’ve been in this exact spot for a long time now. There is a snack shop downstairs that sells really good vada pav, and we usually go there around four o'clock for a break. The stairs are quite steep, so we always tell everyone to be careful coming up. We don't have a secretary, so whoever is free just answers the phone when it rings. It's a busy life here on Shastri Road.
