Jalebi Junction

Jalebi Junction is situated on Baner Itpl Road. It’s a busy stretch of road these days with all the IT offices and new apartments going up. We mostly focus on making jalebis, which means someone is almost always standing over a large kadai of hot oil. It gets hot in the shop, especially during the summer months, but that’s just part of the job. We also have some other snacks, but the jalebis are what people usually come for. We aren't a big chain or anything; it’s just our one spot here. The morning is usually spent prepping the batter and getting the sugar syrup just right. It’s a sticky business, and we spend a lot of time cleaning the counters. We don't have a lot of seating, so most people just grab their order and head out or eat standing nearby. We’ve seen Baner change from a quiet area to a place that never sleeps, but we just keep doing our thing at our little spot on the road. We don't use any fancy words to describe what we do. We just make the food and hope it’s ready when people want it. It’s hard work being on your feet all day, but we’re used to it by now. The road outside is always noisy, but we just focus on the frying.
