About Gouri Mastani House – Food & Beverages in Pune
Shaniwar Peth is an old part of town, and we are right near Omkareshwar Chowk at Survey 275. Being Gouri Mastani House, we mostly deal with those thick milkshakes people like. The building is older, and the walls have a few marks here and there that we can't quite scrub off. It gets very crowded when there is a festival at the temple nearby. We have stools that aren't the most comfortable, but they serve the purpose for a quick drink. The blenders make a lot of noise, so it is hard to have a quiet conversation when we are busy. We go through a lot of ice and milk every day. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to worry about the freezers, but that is just part of living in this area. We don't have a marketing plan. We just make the mastanis and hope people like them. The counter is stainless steel and we keep it as clean as we can, but things get sticky pretty fast with all the syrup. It is a small operation, just a few of us working behind the bar. We’ve been at Omkareshwar Chowk for long enough that we don't really need a big sign. People just walk in when they are thirsty. It’s a simple life and a simple business, really. We just keep the fridge running and the glasses washed up for the next person who comes in.
