The workshop is tucked away in Warje, right behind the telephone exchange. If you know the Sakinaka area, you know it’s mostly small shops and houses all mixed together. We are in Vighnahar Society at 132/1/1. It’s not really a society like the new ones with gates, just a group of older buildings. The noise from the machines can get pretty loud during the day, so we try not to start too early out of respect for the neighbors. There’s always grease on something. Our hands stay dirty most of the day at Gauri Engineering Co. The floor is concrete and has some cracks from moving heavy parts around over the years. We have a small cabin in the corner where the paperwork stays, though it usually ends up under a pile of tools. The sunlight comes in through the big shutters in the morning. It’s a practical setup for the kind of work we do. We don't have any big signs, just the name on the door. People find us because they know the telephone exchange landmark. The air smells like oil and hot metal most of the time. We have an old radio that plays local stations while we work. It helps pass the time when we have a big batch of parts to finish. It’s just a regular engineering shop doing regular work for people in the city. We keep a stack of crates by the door for outgoing parts.
