Our workshop is over at C-Block 2/21, just off the road from the Vaishnav Devi Mandir. You can usually hear the bells from the temple when the wind is right. Ganga Singh Engineering Pvt.Ltd. has been in this spot for quite some time now. It’s an engineering place, so there is always some kind of noise—drilling, grinding, or just the sound of heavy metal being moved around. The floor is concrete and has plenty of oil stains from the machines. We aren't a big, polished company with people in suits. Most of us are in overalls and have grease under our fingernails. We take on all sorts of mechanical jobs. Some are easy, some make us scratch our heads for a few days before we figure them out. The office is just a small corner with a desk and a phone that rings more than it should. We drink a lot of tea and try to keep things organized, though it doesn't always stay that way when we’re busy. It’s a practical environment. We focus on the task at hand, making sure the parts fit and the engines run like they are supposed to. It’s steady work, and we like the community around here. People know where to find us when something breaks or needs building from scratch.
