French Engineering

Out here in Koregaon Bhima, specifically in Neharu Nagar at plot 699/1B, we spend most of our time around heavy machinery. It is a bit out of the way for some, but we like the space we have here. The shop floor is always a bit messy with metal shavings and bits of scrap, no matter how much we sweep it up. It smells like cutting oil and hot metal most of the afternoon. We have been here for a good stretch of time and the building has started to show its age, but it’s sturdy enough for what we do. Our team is small, just a few guys who know their way around an engine and a lathe. We don’t wear uniforms, usually just old clothes that we don’t mind getting dirty. There is a small sink in the corner where we wash the grease off our hands before we go home. The sun hits the metal roof in the summer and it gets quite warm, so we keep the big side doors wide open for a breeze. We don’t have any slick brochures to hand out. If someone wants to know what we do, they usually just walk in and ask. We take our time with the work and try to keep things moving along. It is a loud, busy, and honest place to work every day. We just get on with it and handle the jobs as they come.
