Our place is called Flambos and we are out in Baner at The Orchid. If you know the Pune Bangalore Highway, you know how loud and busy it gets. We are right there where the traffic never really stops. You can hear the trucks rumbling by at all hours of the day and night. Being near The Orchid means we see a lot of people passing through on their way somewhere else. The building itself is sturdy, but the highway dust is a constant battle for us. We spend a good part of the morning with a cloth in hand, wiping down the windows and the front area. It’s a straightforward space. We don’t have any big decorations or anything. Just the tables, some chairs, and the equipment we need to keep things running. The light comes in strong from the highway side in the afternoons. Sometimes we have to pull the shades a bit so it isn't too bright inside for the people sitting there. We’ve got a small team here. We mostly talk about the weather or the traffic situation on the bypass when we have a minute to spare. It’s a practical kind of life. We show up, open the doors, and wait for the day to start. There’s no big philosophy behind what we do. We just make sure the place is ready for whoever walks in from the road. It gets a bit chilly in the winter evenings because of the open space nearby.
