Farooque Caterers

Farooque Caterers is located right at 62 Ganesh Peth, just opposite the Madar Chilla Masjid. We spend most of our time in the kitchen area getting things ready for whatever event is coming up next. It’s usually pretty loud with the pots clanking and the burners going. We’ve been in this spot for quite some time now. People in the neighborhood know where to find us because of the smell of the cooking that drifts out onto the street. It’s a busy place, especially during wedding season or when there’s a big festival. We don't have a big fancy office, just the workspace where the real work happens. Sometimes things get a little chaotic when we have three different orders going out at the same time. We just focus on getting the food packed and loaded into the vans. The guys here have been doing this for years, so they know the routine by heart. You can see us early in the morning starting the prep work. It’s a lot of chopping and stirring. We deal with big quantities, so everything is on a larger scale than a home kitchen. If you walk past the Masjid, you’ll likely see our staff moving containers around. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It's a local business and we like being part of the Ganesh Peth community. Most days we are on our feet for ten or twelve hours. It is hard work but it is what we do. We try to keep the floors dry but with all the washing, it is usually a bit damp.
