Exide Point is located at Somwar Peth 5. It’s not the kind of place you come to for shopping, really, it’s more about getting your vehicle sorted. The shop smells like metal and that sharp scent of battery acid, which I’ve stopped noticing after all these years. We have stacks of heavy black batteries all over the floor. It’s back-breaking work moving them around, but that’s the job. People usually come to us when they’re having a bad day because their car or bike won’t start. We test the old ones and see if they can be charged back up or if they’re just dead for good. Somwar Peth is an old area, and our shop fits right in with the other workshops around here. We’ve got some old wooden chairs for people to sit on while they wait, but most people just stand around and talk while we work. My hands are usually stained with something that doesn’t wash off easily. We don't have a fancy showroom, just a counter and a lot of tools. It gets pretty busy when the weather gets cold because that’s when batteries like to give up. We just keep our heads down and get through the work. It’s a honest way to earn a living, helping people get back on the road when they’re stuck. We’ve been here a long time and know the regulars well.
