We are situated at 128/A along the Mumbai Pune Highway. Being right on the highway means we see a lot of cars zooming past all day and night. At Dilip Chhabria Design, we spend our time thinking about how vehicles look and how they can be changed. It’s a mix of a workshop and a studio here. You might see some clay models in one corner and someone welding something in the other. It’s not always organized perfectly, but we know where everything is. The noise from the highway is a constant background sound for us. We’ve got a team that just likes to build things. It’s a lot of trial and error. Sometimes a design doesn't work out the first time, so we just scrap it and start over. We don't have a corporate vibe at all. Most of us are in jeans and t-shirts, covered in bits of material or paint. The building itself is pretty large because we need the space for the cars we work on. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, especially with all the lights and machinery running. We just keep the doors open to catch whatever breeze comes off the road. It’s a place where we just get our hands dirty making stuff that looks different. We don't talk much about goals or plans, we just focus on the car that's currently on the floor until it's done.
