Durga Engineering Works

The workshop is out in Bhosari, at 41493. Durga Engineering Works is a place of noise and metal. We have the big lathe machines and welding equipment set up across the concrete floor. There is always the sound of metal being cut or ground down, which means you have to speak up if you want to be heard. I’ve been working with these machines for a long time, and you get used to the smell of burnt metal and cutting oil. It gets very hot in the summer because of the tin roof and the machines running all day long. We take on a lot of small jobs for the other factories around Bhosari. Sometimes it’s just repairing a broken shaft or making a custom bracket out of steel. My work boots are pretty worn out from standing on the hard floor all day. We keep a bucket of cold water near the door because the heat can get to you. It is not a place for someone who likes to stay clean. By the end of the shift, my face and arms are usually covered in fine grey dust. The noise from the grinding wheels is something you just learn to live with after a few months. I usually keep a pair of old earplugs in my pocket for when it gets really loud. Our workbench is covered in tools that have been passed down for generations.
